Voted by preLaw Magazine as #1 in legal technology in the US, Suffolk Law has been praised for meeting the demands of today’s legal industry. The law school was described as an “innovative force” by PreLaw Associate Editor Tyler Roberts in his article, How Suffolk Law is redefining practice-ready.
Dean Andrew Perlman’s leadership heavily contributes to this level of excellence. Having recently earned prestigious recognition as one of National Jurist's “Most Influential People in Legal Education (2024),” his influence extends beyond conventional boundaries, with a reputation built on his pioneering approach to educating law students. Before assuming deanship, he played a pivotal role in establishing Suffolk Law’s groundbreaking Legal Innovation and Technology (LIT) Concentration — a pioneering initiative that earned the distinguished title of “Top 10 Innovator (2023)” by Bloomberg Law.
Perlman and his peers focus on equipping students with the skills and competencies they need to succeed in a shifting cultural and technological landscape. Suffolk Law’s Dispute Resolution programme is ranked #26 by US News and World Report and among the top 30 for 11 of the last 12 years. It’s a trailblazing provider of practical mediation and negotiation classroom tools, working alongside the EU and US Department of Justice to create ground-breaking materials used by faculty across the nation. Suffolk Law is the only law school in the country ranked in the top 20% of all legal skills specialties–clinics, dispute resolution, legal writing, and trial advocacy–in U.S. News & World Report for seven years in a row.
PreLaw Magazine lists Suffolk among the “Top 25 Most Innovative Law Schools”. Patent lawyers are fundamental to success in a tech-based economy like the one in Massachusetts — a globally-revered hub for ingenuity. In that respect, Suffolk Law is perfectly placed, fostering the most patent law partners in the state's largest IP practices — more than the next two competing law schools combined. The school also has the most patent law partners in Massachusetts’ largest IP firms.
