Welcome to Cardigan Mountain School

The signature Cardigan curriculum

At Cardigan, each academic year consists of three terms, seeing each student partake in the crucial courses of English, history, math, science, a world language, and Personalised Education for the Acquisition of Knowledge and Skills (PEAKS). Ran by a team of skilled coaches, the PEAKS programme was designed to teach boys what it truly means to learn — across all subjects. Topics covered include emotional intelligence, social skills, time management, organisation, collaboration, self-advocacy and more.

The Gates Invention and Innovation Programme and Competition

To encourage creative thinking, risk-taking, and entrepreneurial spirit, Cardigan offers the Gates Invention and Innovation Programme. In the process, sixth and seventh graders also develop an appreciation for hard work and accomplishment. Every fall, participating students and teams are tasked with designing and building a prototype of an invention that performs a practical function, makes life easier or safer, entertains, or solves an everyday problem.

Throughout winter, they refine their prototypes before beginning work on their marketing materials and sales pitches. At the Charles C. Gates Invention and Innovation Competition, which is held annually during Spring Family Weekend, they are expected to wow a panel of expert judges with their idea, prototype, and market analysis. Prizes are awarded for First, Second, and Third Place, as well as "Best Salesman", "Best Market Research”, and "Patent Nod". Eighth and ninth graders are welcome to join in on the fun as well by adding the programme as an elective.
