CABE Teaching Assistantship & Research Assistantship
CABE awards these to deserving new applicants who apply for the positions.
Both assistantships require students to work in the College in a designated area for 10 hours or more a week in exchange for an annual stipend.
Applicants will go through a review process with the College faculty. These positions are renewable. For spring semester applicants, the deadline to apply is Oct. 1, 2022.

Our campus is located in the East Falls neighborhood, only 10 minutes from all that Center City Philadelphia has to offer, yet it boasts 100 acres of scenic, tree-lined space that can feel like a world away.
The Thomas Jefferson College of Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) offers numerous scholarships to international students:
Dean’s Scholarship
All domestic and international students are automatically considered for the Dean’s Scholarship.
This is awarded to new students based on their submitted application and it is renewed annually based on the number of semester credits they enroll in.
International Institutional Partnership Scholarship
All applicants with a bachelor’s degree from any of the partner school below are automatically considered for this scholarship. This scholarship is renewed annually based on the number of semester credits a student enrolls in.

With sustainability as the defining issue of our time to tackle climate change, this program is an award-winning, trans-disciplinary and collaborative design program. In this STEM program students build problem-solving skills to develop market-driven solutions to become leaders in sustainable design to better serve society. Students can select from a variety of focus areas such as Sustainability Leadership, Design of Living Buildings, Resilient Communities or Green Building Operations. Classes are offered on campus, online or a hybrid of both.
The unique focus of the Master of Urban Design – Future Cities (MUD) on contemporary urban issues such as urban resiliency, carbon neutral communities, wellness and smart technologies differentiates the program in the marketplace. In this STEM-designated program, the curriculum is structured in addressing contemporary issues, such as the need to develop urban resiliency and carbon neutral communities, and to harness the potential of smart technologies to achieve environmental wellness on multiple scales in response to rapid urbanization and climate change.
MS in Construction Management
This STEM program was designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively plan and manage each phase of the construction process — as applied to complex commercial, infrastructure and residential building projects. To achieve such feats, they are encouraged to develop a broad practice-oriented understanding of construction technology, business, architecture, and engineering, with specific emphasis on managing the construction process from project inception to close-out.
PhD in Architecture & Design Research
This doctoral program was developed in response to the architectural discipline’s ever-evolving nature, due to the ongoing development of new modes of design research. In fact, it was conceptualized to anticipate and spearhead the practice’s future by nurturing professionals able to conduct original research on timely, discipline-specific topics. The process sees students shape a research question and pursue transdisciplinary inquiry, drawing upon the broad array of professional expertise available throughout Jefferson.
A first-professional, STEM-designated program designed to prepare students for the new challenges of architectural practice in the 21st century. Through the development of sustainable design, technology and design skills, knowledge of project management and collaborative experiences in an interdisciplinary environment, students are prepared to be leading practitioners in this complex world. The program is NAAB accredited and prepares students to become licensed architects in the U.S. Its convenient location in Philadelphia also provides opportunities for internships and projects with industry partners.
A research-based degree allowing students the opportunity to develop their own research plan, taking advantage of our wide range of expert faculty, programs and concentrations. It prepares students for specialist and consulting positions in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. The STEM-designated MS provides its graduates with an additional credential that enables them to pursue research and entrepreneurial practices, careers in academia or expand the knowledge of the profession.
MS Historic Preservation
MS in Historic Preservation not only prepares graduates to preserve historic buildings and sites, but also to reenvision and repurpose the past to serve present and future needs. The program focuses upon the conservation and the rehabilitation of the already-built environment. Our “back to the future” approach not only preserves but also re-envisions and re-purposes historic buildings and sites. Preserving the past is the template for a sustainable future.
